The Easiest Way to Unlock Marth

The easiest way to unlock Marth is to play through the game’s World of Light story mode. While other Super Smash Bros. Ultimate characters take hours of World of Light gameplay to reach and unlock, Marth is available near the very beginning.

Near the beginning of World of Light, players will be able to choose one of three characters: Marth, Villager, or Sheik. While there are good reasons to pick each of these playable characters, whichever one is chosen will be the one that players unlock at this point. To put it simply, unlocking Marth in this instance requires one to pick him.

How to Unlock Marth in Classic Mode

Another quick way to unlock Marth is to play through the game’s classic mode. The classic mode lets players choose a fighter and go through a series of themed battles, including a massive boss battle at the end. Once this boss battle has been successfully completed, players will get to unlock a new character at the end.

To unlock Marth through the classic mode method, players will need to progress down the Yoshi route. First, they will need to complete classic mode as Yoshi, in order to unlock Lucario from Pokemon. Then, players can complete the classic mode as Lucario in order to unlock Marth. Each classic mode playthrough takes around 10 or so minutes to complete, so it could take as little as 20 minutes to unlock Marth.

How to Unlock Marth in VS Mode

Players can also unlock Marth by taking on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s VS mode. In VS mode, players take on an ordered list of characters, and each time a character in the list is defeated, they’re unlocked.

This is a slightly longer, albeit not too difficult, method of unlocking the character, as Marth is only seventh on the list. It goes Ness, Zelda, Bowser, Pit, Inkling, Villager, and then Marth. VS mode battles have a countdown in between them, and this is estimated to be roughly 10 minutes, so it could take just over an hour to reach and unlock Marth.
