Announced by franchise creator Masahiro Sakurai on the games’ official website, this presentation will be dedicated entirely to new information on Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. This is a tantalizing subject for many fans of the crossover fighter, and the best part about is that the wait for a copious amount of new information is not at all a long one. According to the official Smash site, the worldwide stream will kick off at 3 p.m. PST on April 8, 2014.

Sakurai also posted on the MiiVerse Smash page, informing fans that Isabelle of Animal Crossing: New Leaf fame will be an Assist Trophy and that eager gamers will also be able to catch the Nintendo Direct on the Smash Bros. website — among other more traditional methods.

Since this Super Smash Bros. showcase is officially hitting on Tuesday, many gamers the world over are wondering what new information this Direct presentation will bring to light. New and returning fighters, stages, and items seem like a given, but there are a few major things that have only been briefly detailed to eager fight fans.

Chances are a release date (or at the very least a release month) will be announced, and that’s been an incredibly long time coming. The cutscene-less single-player campaign should finally have some light shed on it during the showcase. Another possible topic is the previously announced interactivity between the Wii U and 3DS versions of the new Super Smash Bros..

Despite being surrounded in mystery, it won’t be long until this new Nintendo Direct completely blows the lid off of Super Smash Bros., so stay tuned to Game Rant for more information as soon as it hits.

What do you think the special Nintendo Direct will reveal? What kind of features or additions are you hoping to see added to the new Super Smash Bros.?

Super Smash Bros. will be hitting the Wii U and 3DS at some point in 2014.
