Information may be slim on Super Mario 3DS, and it will likely stay this way until after Nintendo’s E3 press event, but series creator Shigeru Miyamoto recently confirmed a little bit more news on the latest Super Mario game. Allegedly, Super Mario 3DS will make use of the 3DS’s gyroscopic feature, enabling players to physically maneuver the 3DS in order to manipulate certain things in-game. Miyamoto went on to state that the gyroscope was a great way for gamers to maneuver the camera around without the need for a second circle pad.
Miyamoto did indeed confirm one new feature, but he also dismissed another potential feature that Super Mario 3DS will not be utilizing. The man that made Mario confirmed that StreetPass will not be used in Super Mario 3DS “unless a spectacular idea comes to mind.” It’s not really shocking that Nintendo won’t be using the 3DS’s StreetPass ability on a Mario game, but it’s always nice when there are features in big 3DS games that encourage owners to walk around with the handheld in their pocket.
Stay tuned to Game Rant for information on Super Mario 3DS as we enter the road leading to E3 2011.
